If you are staying on the Dutch side or want a different experience, Prego in Philipsburg serves excellent Italian food in an upscale setting. The pasta is homemade, the service is attentive, and you can have a genuinely romantic dinner without the cruise ship crowds. It is one of my favorite discoveries on the Dutch side.

The Most Romantic Activities and Experiences

Saint Martin is an island where you can be as active or as lazy as you want. I have had honeymoons here where I barely left the beach, and I have also done honeymoons where I explored constantly. Both work beautifully depending on your style.

For pure romance, sunset catamaran cruises are hard to beat. I took one that departed from Grand Case in the late afternoon, sailed along the coast of Anguilla, served drinks and appetizers on board, and returned just after sunset. The whole experience lasted four hours and cost about $85 per person. Watching the sun sink into the water while holding hands with your partner as the boat gently rocks beneath you is the kind of moment honeymoons are made of. Several operators run these tours, but book with your hotel concierge rather than directly, as they often get better pricing and can ensure you get a smaller, more intimate boat rather than a party cruise.
